December 24, 2013 by Hayley 1 Comment

This post was last updated on April 28th, 2019 at 01:21 pmIt seems only a few weeks ago that I was writing my post highlights of 2012… where does time go? Well the blog may have been a bit quieter than 2012, but my life certainly hasn’t been! From Russian hat shopping in St Petersburg…to […]

The land of giant willies!

September 22, 2013 by Hayley 2 Comments

This post was last updated on July 29th, 2018 at 01:09 pmI know many people that have visited Turkey, yet none have ever spoken of Cappadocia. Most people will book a nice hotel on an all-inclusive basis and barely see the country they are visiting. When I pictured Turkey I thought of beaches and cocktails […]

Mustafapasa: A step into a horror movie?

This post was last updated on July 29th, 2018 at 01:14 pm Sitting outside the Monastery Cave Hotel in Mustafapasa on a pleasant sunny afternoon the town seems a little old, but very pretty and very welcoming. The people are friendly, the scenery is brilliant and beer is cold. When the sun sets however, it […]

This post was last updated on July 29th, 2018 at 01:22 pm‘I’m so excited about my holiday to Turkey. I can’t wait to get on the beach, you know, the one with the insane crowds of fat middle aged tourists where you get to lay amongst their stubbed out cigarette butts and develop cancer through […]

Staying at ‘Lucy’s place’: Yengec

September 1, 2013 by Hayley 1 Comment

This post was last updated on July 29th, 2018 at 01:38 pmWhen I decided to pay a visit to Turkey my friend told me that staying at Lucy’s was an absolute MUST. Having been advised with such force, I asked no questions and booked a room. Well, I say a room… in actual fact it […]

Why Butterflies?

They thought I wouldn't finish college. I did a PhD.

They thought I wouldn't get fit. I climbed a mountain.

They thought I'd never leave home. I travelled the world.

Just like a butterfly, I exchanged an ugly life where I felt restrained and grounded for one more adventurous, inspirational and beautiful.

I learned to fly.
