May 2, 2013 by Hayley 2 Comments

This post was last updated on November 6th, 2019 at 04:57 amGUEST ENTRY: PHILIP STAINTON Tunisia has two different types of holiday to offer, the ‘all inclusive hotel package “could be anywhere” holiday’ or the ‘backpack guesthouse “experience the country” holiday’. I’m the type of person who prefers Bangkok to Benidorm so naturally I chose […]

Phi Phi: Heaven or Hell?

April 5, 2013 by Hayley 5 Comments

This post was last updated on November 8th, 2018 at 01:59 am Phi Phi is renowned for being one of the most beautiful places in Thailand. Guide books are filled with picturesque scenery and pictures of longboats on the shore of emerald green waters. Many fellow travellers tell stories of swimming in the crystal clear […]

My first post from 30,000ft: The A380

March 29, 2013 by Hayley 5 Comments

This post was last updated on May 25th, 2013 at 01:10 pm I wasn’t sure what I was more excited about, my up coming 2 weeks in Thailand or my first flight on the A380! Being an enthusiastic aviation fan, traveller and ex Cabin Crew I had heard wonderful things about this huge creature of […]

The Google conversation

March 26, 2013 by Hayley Leave a Comment

Google plays a big role in everyday life for many, but never did I realize just how much some might actually rely on it. I arrived at a restaurant in Moscow where I was greeted by a group of Russians that wanted to befriend us. They bought us shots of Russian vodka (tradition over there) […]

This post was last updated on July 3rd, 2020 at 11:58 am A few days before I took off for Russia I Tweeted asking for recommendations/must see’s while I was away. I expected to be told to visit the Kremlin, Red Square and the Hermitage, but what I didn’t expect was to be told to […]

The Search for Fur

March 18, 2013 by Hayley 2 Comments

I’ve never really had an interest in buying fur products, in fact quite the opposite. However my recent trip to Russia sparked my curiosity in the luxuriously soft material. Everywhere I glanced I was greeted with sights of fur. Black, brown, white, stripy, spotty, I saw it all. Women would elegantly stride past me flaunting […]

Why Butterflies?

They thought I wouldn't finish college. I did a PhD.

They thought I wouldn't get fit. I climbed a mountain.

They thought I'd never leave home. I travelled the world.

Just like a butterfly, I exchanged an ugly life where I felt restrained and grounded for one more adventurous, inspirational and beautiful.

I learned to fly.

I don't put projects on the back burner. I put them under the floorboards, where the ever-louder beating of their hearts drives me slowly to madness.
