This post was last updated on April 27th, 2019 at 11:02 amThis week I bring to you my favourite guest post from my maternity-cover series, written by Melissa from Thrifty Family Travels. There is so much to worry about when choosing a destination to travel to with children (believe me, she’s only a few weeks old […]

Medicine Man, crazy monkeys, sarongs and a few perfect days: Ubud

October 15, 2011 by Hayley 2 Comments

I LOVED this place. It was coming to the end of my travels by this point, and perhaps I was just feeling particularly appreciative, but I really did have a wonderful few days here. So I arrived to Ubud after a very long day travelling from the Gilli Islands around 9pm and began wondering the […]

October 6, 2011 by Hayley 2 Comments

This was possibly the most wonderful place I visited on all of my travels, and the most relaxing. The plan was for me […]

A ruined Bali?

October 2, 2011 by Hayley 1 Comment

This post was last updated on April 22nd, 2020 at 11:50 amAfter my wonderful first impression from village life in Bali, I was greeted with chaotic, busy, littered, un-cultural mess that is Kuta. I perhaps would compare this place to what I imagine Benidorm or Marbella to be like (as I have never actually been […]

Why Butterflies?

They thought I wouldn't finish college. I did a PhD.

They thought I wouldn't get fit. I climbed a mountain.

They thought I'd never leave home. I travelled the world.

Just like a butterfly, I exchanged an ugly life where I felt restrained and grounded for one more adventurous, inspirational and beautiful.

I learned to fly.

I don't put projects on the back burner. I put them under the floorboards, where the ever-louder beating of their hearts drives me slowly to madness.
