4 Ways You Can Travel AND Study

For many people, studying and travelling seem like two mutually exclusive things that can’t be combined. However, advancements in technology and the widespread availability of the internet have meant that more and more people are combining travelling and studying to great success! There are several different ways of doing this that we are going to be talking about in more detail right here – let’s get started!

Study Abroad

Your first option is to study abroad, which gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture while studying in a foreign land. A major advantage is that money doesn’t have to be such a huge obstacle as many universities (particularly in the EU) offer their courses for free or little investment. If you are going to learn the language of that country, it is a major plus point to be immersed in it, but even if not, picking up some of the local tongue may well be an added bonus.

Study Online

There are so many courses that are offered online these days that you are not restricted by location when you are studying. Another major advantage is that you have a wide range of courses to choose from. Perhaps you would like to get a maths qualification or something more specialist like a master of social work online. Of course, you will need to have the discipline to set aside time that you can study and complete your assessments while you are on the road. However, get the balance right and you may well find that you have the best of both worlds.

Work in Another Country

There are plenty of jobs that you can get abroad that allow you to develop valuable skills at the same time as earning money. For example, there are opportunities to teach English as a foreign language all over the world and often, a lot the training is provided on the job. Companies that offer programmes like this include i to i and Global U. Perhaps you could take up a volunteer role in an area that you would like to learn more about – something that is especially useful if you are planning on entering the charity sector at some point down the line.

Take a Semester Abroad

If a long-term commitment abroad sounds like too much to handle, you could simply take a semester abroad instead. Many universities offer the opportunity to study abroad within a current course that you are taking, so it is worth asking whether this is an option for you. The semester abroad often gives you the opportunity to learn something different from the rest of your course, and you never really know how it could influence the rest of your life.

So, if you are looking to travel and study yourself, these are just a few of the ways that you can do it. Everything depends on what stage of life you are at and what your priorities are, but many people find studying abroad to be a life-changing decision.
